MAST CLIMBING WORK PLATFORMS
Rack and pinion driven platforms
What is a Mast Climbing Work Platform (MCWP)?
A Mast Climbing Work Platform (MCWP) is a type of access equipment used in construction and maintenance projects to safely elevate workers and materials to various heights. It is primarily designed to allow comfortable and efficient work on facades.
Key Features:
-
It consists of a horizontal platform that moves up and down along one or more vertical masts anchored to a structure.
-
The platform can be positioned just a few centimeters from the working surface, enabling operators to perform tasks with precision and ease.
-
MCWPs are capable of transporting both personnel and materials simultaneously, optimizing workflow and reducing the need for separate lifting equipment.
Modular Design:
Euroscaf’s MCWPs are modular, allowing for flexible configurations:
-
Vertical Modules (Trellises): Can be assembled in height by connecting 1.5 m high modules to reach the desired elevation.
-
Horizontal Modules (Beams): Available in 1 m or 1.5 m lengths, they can be connected to reach the desired length, creating the platform where operators can work comfortably.
How Does It Work?
-
The platform moves vertically along a rack attached to vertical trellised elements.
-
The movement is generated by self-braking electric gear motors, mounted on lifting units, that drive pinions along the rack.
-
Being a machine certified according to CE standards, it saves time and money since there is no need for structural calculations by a licensed engineer or for the preparation of PIMUS documentation (Assembly, Use, and Disassembly Plan), which is mandatory for traditional scaffolding.
Versions:
-
Single Mast (Monomast): Composed of a single vertical column, ideal for narrow work areas.
-
Twin Mast (Bimast): Formed by connecting two vertical columns with horizontal modules, offering greater platform width and load capacity.
Applications:
Facade Work:
-
Painting and Coating: Precise application of paint, sealants, and coatings on building facades.
-
Cladding and Panel Installation: Efficient installation of exterior cladding, panels, and insulation systems.
-
Window Installation and Replacement: Safe and accurate fitting of windows and glazing systems.
-
Cleaning and Maintenance: Facade cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks.
Renovation and Restoration:
-
Building Restoration: Refurbishment of historical buildings and facades.
-
Masonry and Brickwork: Precise bricklaying and stone restoration.
New Construction:
-
Facade Assembly: Installation of exterior walls and architectural features.
-
Structural Work: Assisting in the construction of high-rise buildings and complex structures.
Oil & Gas & Industrial Applications:
-
Tank and Silo Maintenance: Safe access for inspection, sandblasting, painting and structural repairs.
-
Refinery and Petrochemical Plants: Maintenance and installation works on complex industrial structures.
-
Chimney and Stack Operations: Access solutions for maintenance, repair and structural interventions.
-
Offshore and Onshore Facilities: Safe vertical access for maintenance of industrial plants and energy infrastructures.
-
Industrial Maintenance: Support for heavy mechanical and structural works at height.
Special Projects:
-
Signage and Advertising Installation: Mounting of large signs, billboards, and digital screens.
-
Electrical and Mechanical Work: Installation and maintenance of electrical and HVAC systems at height.
Advantages Over Traditional Scaffolding:
-
Simultaneously elevates operators and materials, allowing precise positioning and stopping exactly at the desired working point.
-
No need for additional lifting equipment such as winches, hoists, or cranes, reducing costs and optimizing work time.
-
Time-saving and cost-efficient, as it eliminates waiting times for cranes or other lifting means, improving overall site efficiency.
Why Choose a Mast Climbing Work Platform?
-
Comfortable and Safe Working Area: The platform provides a stable and spacious work area, reducing worker fatigue and enhancing safety.
-
Efficient Positioning: The ability to position the platform just a few centimeters from the working surface increases productivity and precision in tasks.
-
Versatility and Flexibility: The modular design allows for customizable configurations to meet different project requirements.
Summary:
A Mast Climbing Work Platform (MCWP) is the ideal solution for working on facades, offering a safe, efficient, and versatile alternative to traditional scaffolding. With its modular design, precise positioning, and dual transport capability, it optimizes workflow and reduces costs, making it essential for modern construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.

The mast climbing work platform is equipped with a mechanical safety device activated in case of overspeed. This system engages if the platform begins to slip downward due to a simultaneous failure of both self-braking electric gear motors, immediately stopping its descent.
This is an additional safety measure, considering that each motor is already designed to support the weight of the platform under normal operating conditions.
